Lawmaker to sexist bashers: ‘Get a life’

San Juan Rep. Ysabel Maria Zamora has this to say to social media bashers who found her style as a House prosecutor in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial to be supposedly flirtatious and playing cute: “Get a life.”

“It’s so unfortunate that a lot of Filipinos still think that way. They still make misogynistic remarks, especially directed towards women, girls, who apparently are smart and can speak well, and can be a lawyer in an impeachment court,” Zamora told reporters during a break in Tuesday’s hearing.

“(Maybe) they can’t handle sass, they can’t handle style,” she said.

“And well, really, I don’t care if they bash me, I’m here to do my job, and… I mean seriously, right? They should get a life.”

The lawmaker was referring to the comments—shared by the Vice President’s supporters—on how she conducted the direct examination of Police Maj. Joericson Sangalang on Monday.

Sangalang testified as head of the Firearms and Explosive Office of Philippine National Police regarding the 51 guns licensed to Duterte and her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio.
