Lawmakers laud PNP chief for swift action

Avatar

Speaker Martin Romualdez on Sunday lauded Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Marbil for his swift action against police officers, including the chief of Metro Manila’s Eastern Police District (EPD) over the extortion and kidnapping of two Chinese nationals.

Administration lawmakers, Laguna Rep. Dan Fernandez and Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, also commended the PNP chief for the move, which they said, reflected Marbil’s commitment to reform and internal accountability.

Marbil ordered the immediate relief of the EPD chief Gen. Villamor Tuliao and the entire EPD special operations unit as criminal and administrative charges were filed against them.
