Legarda files sixth medical leave extension
For the sixth time, Sen. Loren Legarda extended anew her medical leave, this time from Oct. 5 to Oct. 9, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug said on Monday.
Legarda first filed a medical leave from Aug. 3 to 5 and has since sought five more extensions, mostly covering Mondays to Wednesdays, the days set by the Senate impeachment court for the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte along with Senate sessions.

She reportedly left the country on Aug. 2 only a few days after the Office of the Ombudsman announced that she and her son, Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste, would be subject to a preliminary investigation over P10 billion “ghost” solar power projects.
In a message sent to the Inquirer, Bantug said that part her sixth extension request are the leaves for the dates Sept. 21 to Sept. 23 and Sept. 28 to Oct 2
The senator is reportedly in France seeking treatment for a “serious” lung-related illness, as other senators had also claimed. Legarda, however, has not publicly disclosed the details of her condition.
