LTFRB: No surge of motorcycle taxis in NCR

Avatar

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has denied claims of a surge in the number of motorcycles (MCs) for-hire in Metro Manila, saying the figure has not increased over the past three years.

“[The] LTFRB did not increase the number of MC taxis in the National Capital Region (NCR). It has been pegged at 45,000 three years ago [and] it still stands at 45,000. All the allegations are false and misleading,” LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz II said in a statement on Monday.

He was responding to the allegation of Boy Vargas, president of the Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines, that they monitored “a significant increase” in the number of MC taxis.
