LTO vows action on CTPL insurance

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Saturday said it will work with various transport groups and stakeholders to increase motor vehicle insurance.
Vigor Mendoza II, LTO chief, promised insurance companies last week that he would act on unauthorized sellers of compulsory third-party liability (CTPL) coverage.
Two other changes now underway are the immediate correction of encoding errors on insurance and removal of the participation fee in claiming insurance payments, Mendoza said. He said that LTO would deploy undercover agents to identify those illegally selling CTPL.
Among the transport leaders who attended were Ariel Lim, president of the National Confederation of Tricycle and Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines; Boy Vargas, president of the Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines; Jes Bañaga, president of Pro Movers Transport Alliance, and Obet and Jojo Martin, president and vice president of Pasang Masda.
