Maasin gets ‘City of Faith’ tag

TACLOBAN CITY—The City of Maasin in Southern Leyte is now officially known as the “City of Faith” as part of its new branding.

According to Ordinance No. 241, which was passed by the local council and signed by Mayor Nacional Mercado late last year, recognizing Maasin is fitting, considering the different religious landmarks that have drawn pilgrims and tourists to the city.

Councilor Margarita Bantug, the ordinance’s principal author, said one of the most significant religious landmarks in Maasin is the Maasin Cathedral, known as the National Shrine of Our Lady of Assumption.
