Magnitude 5.5 quake recorded in Ilocos Norte

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck off the coast of Ilocos Norte on Tuesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). It initially reported the tremor as having a magnitude of 5.8 before downgrading it to magnitude 5.5.
The earthquake occurred 21 kilometers southwest of Pasuquin town at 10:38 a.m., based on Phivolcs data. It had a depth of focus of 43 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.
The following reported intensities were recorded in these areas: Intensity V in Bacarra, Laoag City, Pasuquin and Vintar, all in Ilocos Norte and Cabugao, Sinait and Vigan City, all in Ilocos Sur.
Intensity IV was felt in Batac City, Paoay and San Nicolas, all in Ilocos Norte as well as Banayoyo, Bantay, Caoayan, Magsingal, San Ildefonso, San Juan, Santa Catalina and Santo Domingo, all in Ilocos Sur.
