Man arrested for trying to rob bank in Taguig

Authorities have foiled a bank robbery attempt in Taguig City, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of P7.4 million.
A 54-year-old man identified as “Bernard” entered a private bank in Barangay Western Bicutan on Monday afternoon and posed as a regular client, according to the National Capital Region Police Office.
“He requested to use the restroom but emerged moments later, brandishing a loaded 9mm pistol,” it said.
He ordered a bank officer to open the cash vault and transfer the P7.4 million inside to a bag. But during this time, a bank personnel secretly activated the silent alarm, prompting Taguig police officers to respond.
The suspect was arrested and will be facing complaints for robbery and violation of the ongoing election gun ban.
