Marcos declares 15 non-working local holidays for April

President Marcos has declared 15 local holidays for April to celebrate founding anniversaries, festivals and significant historical events.
“It is fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the President said in authorizing the special non-working days.
The proclamations were signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin last month and were recently posted on the official gazette website.
Proclamation 830 declared April 2 as a special non-working day in Bataan in celebration of the 237th birth anniversary of Francisco “Balagtas” Baltazar, a Filipino poet and orator who lived in the province.
Proclamation 832 designated April 3 as a special non-working day in Balangiga, Eastern Samar, to mark its 171st founding anniversary.
April 3 is also a special non-working day in Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro, as authorized by Proclamation 841 to commemorate its 56th founding anniversary.
Originally part of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, Magsaysay was created as a separate town through Republic Act 5459, signed by Marcos’ father and namesake, then President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., on April 3, 1969.
The same day is also a special non-working day in Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, as provided for in Proclamation 842 for its 56th founding anniversary. Marcos Sr. signed Republic Act 5460 creating the town on April 3, 1969.

Proclamation 833 named April 4 a special non-working day in Laak, Davao de Oro, to celebrate its 46th founding anniversary.
Proclamation 848 declared April 5 a special non-working day in Pangasinan for its 445th anniversary.
Proclamation 834 designated April 7 as a special non-working day in Mountain Province for its foundation day.
Proclamation 835 named April 11 a special non-working day in Dolores, Quezon, to mark its 190th founding anniversary.
Proclamation 847 declared April 21 a special non-working day in Calamba City, Laguna, to celebrate its 24th cityhood anniversary.
Proclamation 836 designated April 23 as a special non-working day in Plaridel, Bulacan, to remember the “Battle of Quingua.” Plaridel, previously known as Quingua, was the site of one of the significant battles led by Gen. Gregorio del Pilar during the Philippine-American War.
Proclamation 837 named April 25 a special non-working day in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, to celebrate its Bahaghari Festival.
The same day is also a special non-working day in Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental, as provided for Proclamation 843 to celebrate its yearly town fiesta, also known as the Pakol Festival. St. Catherine of Alexandria is the town’s patron saint, while pakol is an abundant banana variety in the town.
Proclamation 844 also declared April 25 as a special non-working day in Tarlac City, Tarlac, to commemorate its 27th cityhood anniversary, which originally fell on April 19 or Black Saturday.
Proclamation 838 designated April 30 as a special non-working day in San Francisco, Quezon, for its 87th founding anniversary.
Finally, Proclamation 845 named April 30 as a special non-working day in Calatagan, Batangas, to celebrate its town fiesta and Tourism and Cultural Day.
