Marcos names new BCDA chair

President Marcos on Monday named lawyer and businessman Hilario Paredes as the new chair of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

Paredes replaces retired Police Gen.Thompson Lantion whom Mr. Marcos had appointed only a month earlier.

The President first named Paredes, 52, acting member of the BCDA board of directors in April 2023.

Paredes is also a member of the board of directors of the North Luzon Railways Corp., Bonifacio Communications Corp., Filinvest BCDA Clark Inc. and Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. Paredes, who hails from a family of lawyers, founded his law office in 2006.

He also chairs Paredes Holdings and the Asian Center for Legal Excellence Inc. Paredes finished his juris doctor degree in 1996 and bachelor’s degree in political science in 1992 both at the Ateneo de Manila.
