Marcos vetoes changes in BCDA Charter

Avatar

President Marcos on Thursday rejected a measure that sought to amend the 33-year-old law that created the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said the Chief Executive raised concerns that the proposed amendments to the BCDA charter may “conflict with existing laws and adversely impact the government’s fiscal position.”

Quoting the veto message, the PCO said the President objected to the bill’s financial proposals and authority granted to the BCDA to determine alienable and disposable lands.
