The Metro Manila Council (MMC) has passed a resolution that sets at P5,000 the maximum penalty for those caught illegally dumping garbage throughout the National Capital Region (NCR).
MMC President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said that all NCR mayors agreed to set the fine at P5,000, except for Pateros, which shall retain the P2,500 fine.
“Let’s not throw garbage in the wrong places—not in rivers, creeks, and waterways,” Zamora said after the MMC meeting held on Tuesday at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority office in Pasig City.
