More jobs seen as ecozones expand in Batangas, Iloilo

President Marcos has signed two proclamations for the expansion and creation of special economic zones in the provinces of Batangas and Iloilo, which are projected to attract P2.05 billion in investments and create more than 4,000 new jobs.

Under Proclamation No. 1127, four parcels of land in Barangays Pagaspas and Trapiche in Tanauan City, Batangas, are transformed and integrated into the existing First Industrial Township-Special Economic Zone (FIT-SEZ).

“The new ecozones reinforce the Marcos administration’s push to disperse investments beyond Metro Manila, bringing economic opportunities closer to Filipinos,” Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said in a press release on Wednesday.

FIT-SEZ currently hosts 14 Philippine Economic Zone Authority-registered enterprises employing 1,634 workers.

Recto said the expansion was expected to attract additional manufacturing locators, generating P1.5 billion in new investments and creating 1,850 more jobs.

Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 1128 declares multiple parcels of land along Donato Pison Avenue at Barangay San Rafael in Mandurriao District, Iloilo City, as the Atria Gardens IT Park Special Economic Zone.

The IT park is projected to attract P550 million in investments and create 2,200 jobs, strengthening Iloilo’s position as a growing hub for information technology and business process services, Recto said.
