BACOLOD CITY—The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) has extended aid to the mother of a 9-year-old girl killed in a brutal home attack in Hacienda Badiang, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, which also left her two other children injured.

The mother, an Owwa member who had worked in Saudi Arabia for eight months, returned to the Philippines following the tragedy.

Owwa Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan visited her at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod, where the two surviving children remain confined, and attended the slain child’s wake on Tuesday.

Caunan said the mother’s employer covered her airfare from Dammam, while Owwa facilitated her travel to Negros and provided repatriation assistance, financial aid, and immediate welfare support.

Livelihood and reintegration programs will help the family rebuild. Hospital staff are also coordinating to ensure ongoing care for the children

Silay Mayor Joedith Gallego appealed to the public for information to help identify the attackers.
