Namfrel asks public to verify May 12 poll results using app

The National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) launched on Thursday “Operation QR Count (2025)” or OQC 2025 which allows the public to independently verify the results of the May 12 elections.

By downloading the Namfrel 2025 mobile app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, any individual with a smart device and internet connection can scan the QR (quick response) codes of election returns that will be posted outside poll precincts around 7 p.m. on Election Day.

“We want the public to help independently verify the transmitted results using the election returns posted outside [the precincts] because these will be printed prior to electronic transmission. These are the same votes verified by the voters themselves while they were inserting their ballot through the automated counting machines,” Namfrel chair Lito Averia said during the launch.

For cross-matching

The election watchdog urged volunteers to scan the QR codes that will then be received by the Namfrel headquarters and matched with the official transmitted results that it will get in real time as an accredited citizens’ arm of the Commission on Elections.

“Everybody is encouraged to download the Namfrel 2025 app to help independently verify the transmitted election results in their own polling place, voting center, barangay, city and municipality,” Averia said.

Anyone can scan the QR codes from as many polling places as they can up to three days after the elections.
