Another Chinese abducted in Metro freed in Cavite
LUCENA CITY—A Chinese man allegedly abducted in Pasay City was found safe in in the town of Ternate in Cavite province early Monday after he was released from captivity, authorities said.
Police in Calabarzon (Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon and Rizal) region said victim Wen Non Su, 36, sought the help of residents along Juanito Remulla Road in Barangay Sapang 1 at 12:55 a.m.
Wen, a native of Fujian province in China, told policemen that he was abducted by six fellow Chinese in Pasay City while he was on his way home around 9 p.m. on Nov. 25.
He said his abductors forced him into a white Toyota Grandia van. Investigators said Wen was blindfolded and handcuffed during the trip until his abductors released him in Barangay Sapang 1.
The police, however, did not provide details on the reported abduction.
No information was also immediately available about the victim or his line of work or business in the country, except that he has a Filipino secretary.
When the police called the secretary, she confirmed the abduction, which the woman said had already been reported to the Pasay City police.
Spate
The spate of abductions of Chinese nationals from Metro Manila who ended up in different areas in Calabarzon started last month.
Police officers in Calabarzon have been conducting operations to find links between the abductors in Metro Manila and their possible cohorts in provinces where the victims have been either abandoned or rescued.So far, however, the police have yet to link the perpetrators to anyone in the region.
This latest case brought to five the number of kidnapping cases involving Chinese nationals abducted in Metro Manila who were taken to, or have either been freed or had escaped in, Calabarzon provinces.
On Oct. 18, two other male Chinese nationals who were allegedly abducted in Parañaque City were found in General Trias City, also in Cavite.
The victims said seven unidentified male Chinese and Filipinos abducted them on Oct. 16 and that they were later brought to a house inside a subdivision, where they stayed for a day until they managed to escape.
On Oct. 29, nine people, including six Chinese nationals, were also abducted in Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City. Three of the victims, all Filipinos working for one of the Chinese nationals, were later freed in Calauan, Laguna.On Nov. 3, police arrested three Chinese for the alleged abduction of a Chinese woman in Pasay City who managed to escape in Biñan City, Laguna.
The woman was abducted on Oct. 30, and her captors demanded P1 million and a luxury car in exchange for her freedom.
Authorities said the victim was held in a rented apartment but managed to escape and seek help from subdivision residents.The Biñan police conducted an operation that led to the arrest of the suspects.
On Nov. 10, a male Chinese allegedly abducted in Pasay City over a P10-million debt was found in Batangas City. It was not immediately known how the victim had accumulated the huge debt. INQ
