NHMFC reports hack attack, eyes possible data breach

The state-owned National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHFMC) has reported a suspected malicious attempt to access its application systems, potentially leading to a data breach.

In a notice posted on its website on Thursday, April 4, the NHFMC advised customers to take immediate precautions, including changing their passwords and exercising caution when conducting online transactions or accessing websites and links.

“We have reason to believe that there may have been a data breach and the investigation and assessment is on-going,” the notice stated.

The corporation urged customers to be vigilant when providing information through online platforms, phone calls, or emails and to avoid opening emails from unknown sources. Customers were also advised to verify the legitimacy of websites and links they access.

“Rest assured of our commitment to protecting your personal information,” the notice concluded, providing contact information for Rajewem Zabala and Nora Encina at contact number 8893-1501 local 295 for any queries or concerns.
