No selling of tobacco products below floor prices
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has warned sellers of cigarettes, vapor and heated tobacco products that selling these products below revised minimum prices was a criminal offense. Violators face a fine of at least 10 times the amount of the unpaid taxes and imprisonment for a period of four to six years.
The BIR has issued updated floor prices for these items with cigarettes priced at P78.58 per pack, or P785.80 each ream, compared to the previous P114.60 per pack and P1,146 each ream. For heated tobacco products, the price was P60.11 per pack, from P120.40. Vapor products with nicotine salt can be bought at P180.67 (from P200) per pod and P679.12 per bottle. Conventional ‘freebase’ was also cheaper in the updated price list at P181.72 for a 10-milliliter bottle from P179.20.
