Pagasa announces start of ‘warm and dry season’
The public should expect temperatures to rise in the coming days with the northeast monsoon or “amihan” officially over, according to the state weather bureau.
“The northeast monsoon has officially ended, marking the transition to the warm and dry season,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in a Facebook post on Monday.
“Warmer days ahead, but occasional thunderstorms may still occur,” it said.
Pagasa officially declared the start of the amihan season on Oct. 27 last year. It refers to the cool and dry northeast wind from Siberia and China that blows down to the Philippines, bringing temperatures down.
The season typically begins mid to late October and ends around March or early April.
