Pagasa: Rain to prevail due to 3 weather systems
Three weather systems will continue to bring rain all over the country before New Year’s Eve, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said on Sunday that the shear line, or the area where cold and hot air meet, will continue to affect the eastern portion of central and southern Luzon.
In particular, “the shear line will bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over parts of Calabarzon, Metro Manila, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Oriental Mindoro and Marinduque,” she said.
Cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers, on the other hand, were forecast over Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region due to the northeast monsoon.
ITCZ also involved
At the same time, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will cause light to moderate, to at times, heavy rains over parts of Palawan, the rest of the Bicol region, Mimaropa, the entire Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental.
Pagasa’s 5 p.m. weather advisory on Sunday also said that moderate to heavy rainfall were expected over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon due to the combined effects of the shear line and ITCZ.
