Panglao Island sees steady tourist arrivals
PANGLAO, BOHOL—Tourists continue to flock to Panglao Island, one of the country’s top summer destinations, as families and travelers make the most of the “Semana Santa” (Holy Week) break.
With its white sand beaches and tropical ambiance, Panglao remains a favorite getaway for both local and foreign visitors seeking relaxation and a quick escape from daily routines.
For first-time Bohol visitor Criselda Cecilio of Manila, the trip was a long-awaited treat for her family, carefully planned and saved for in advance.
“We’re making the most of our time today since this is our last day. It’s a DIY (do-it-yourself) trip. We planned and prepared for this because we only get to travel once a year. Even though fuel is expensive, we saved up for this vacation,” she told the Inquirer
Cecilio added that while travel costs are higher during the peak season, the memories created make the trip “priceless.”
“This time, it’s really expensive because it’s the peak season. But it’s all worth it—the place is truly beautiful. It’s paradise,” she said.
Resorts in Panglao reported steady occupancy rates despite rising fuel and travel costs, with both local and foreign tourists continuing to arrive.
‘Quality service’
According to Marilou Beach Resort supervisor Nita Galero, demand for leisure travel remains strong.
“Despite the increase in fuel prices, we still have guests—both local and foreign. This shows that the demand for relaxation and travel is strong, and that guests keep coming back for the quality service we provide,” she said.
While room rates remain unchanged to maintain affordability and attract guests, some establishments have adjusted food and beverage prices due to increased costs of raw materials.
“As of now, we have not increased our room rates because we aim to provide affordable accommodations with quality service. However, there has been a slight increase in food and beverages due to the rising cost of raw materials needed to maintain quality,” she added.
As travelers continue to arrive in Panglao, resort operators encourage guests to plan and save ahead to make the most of their trips and enjoy the island’s natural beauty.
