PCG, DOJ complete maritime law training

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Department of Justice (DOJ) have completed a three-day training aimed at beefing up legal and prosecutorial preparedness in maritime law enforcement challenges.

The DOJ conducted the training for coast guard personnel in Tagaytay City, the PCG said on Saturday, and marks a milestone in ensuring that maritime law enforcement is aligned with legal standards.

PCG Deputy Commandant for Administration, Rear Adm. Hostillo Arturo Cornelio, emphasized the importance of legal literacy and prosecutorial coordination in the Coast Guard’s front-line operations.

Deputy State Prosecutor Margaret Castillo-Padilla said the DOJ is committed to working closely with law enforcement agencies to maintain legal integrity from operations to prosecution.
