Pepsi Paloma film director posts bail for cyberlibel case

Controversial filmmaker Darryl Yap has posted bail of P10,000 in connection with the two counts of cyberlibel he is facing in a Muntinlupa court over the teaser for his film, “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.”
In an order dated March 19, Presiding Judge Myra Quiambao of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 203 recalled and set aside the arrest warrant she issued on the same day against Yap after he voluntarily appeared before her and posted bail for his provisional liberty.
Quiambao set Yap’s arraignment and pretrial conference at 8:30 a.m. on March 26. Earlier, Yap’s legal counsel expressed relief after the prosecution reduced the cyberlibel charges against his client from 19 counts to just two.
Raymond Fortun said his client “believes that the truth will come out in the end.” The case against Yap was filed by actor Vic Sotto based on the film teaser about his alleged rape of the late actress Pepsi Paloma.
