PHLPost suspends shipping of packages to US

The Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) suspended starting on Aug. 28 all shipments going to the United States after the Trump administration abolished a rule that allows packages valued at $800 or less to enter the US duty-free, effective Aug. 29.

PHLPost said in a Facebook post that customers may retrieve or seek a refund for items already lodged.

Due to the Trump order, US-bound packages are now subject to the tarif level applicable to their country of origin, or a specific duty ranging from $80 to $200 per item.
