PNP chief sacks 11 moonlighting police commandos
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Marbil dismissed 11 police commandos who were found to have provided “unauthorized escort services” to a Chinese national.
Marbil approved the recommendation of the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS) to dismiss Police Lt. Col. Joseph Bagsao, Police Executive Master Sergeant Aaron Turano, Police Corporal George Mabuti, Patrolman Roger Valdez, Jr., Police Capt. Roy Pleños, Police Capt. Dale Andrei Duterte, Police Lt. Aaron Tudlong, Police Senior Master Sergeant Edmark Mabini, Police Senior Master Sergeant Albert Gandipon, Police Capt. Jesttony Asanion and Police Lt. Michael Misa.
Police Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, spokesperson for the PNP, said these personnel, all of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF), were found guilty of grave misconduct, dishonesty, grave irregularity in the performance of their duties and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
Fajardo said Police Capt. Mark Victor Pineda was found guilty of simple neglect of duty and less grave neglect of duty and was given 31 days suspension.
According to Fajardo, the case stems from an incident on May 18, this year when security guard Renz Antero reported a disturbance in Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City, caused by a fistfight.
Upon arrest, it was found that the individuals involved were SAF members moonlighting as security for a Chinese national identified as A.H. Long, and his two children, “without proper authorization.”
IAS investigation found that Bagsao and Turano had deployed Mabuti and Valdez as security for A.H. Long and his family “in violation of PNP regulations.”
