PNP chief to men: Protect integrity during polls
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil called on police officers to remain steadfast in their sworn duty and to “uphold [their] dignity as law enforcers” in relation to the upcoming midterm elections.
“Our role in ensuring peace and order during this critical period for the country will not be easy,” Marbil said during Monday’s flag raising ceremony at Camp Crame.
“Our dignity as police officers is one of our most valuable assets … We must protect our integrity and never allow it to be compromised by temptations or undue influence,” he said.
In September, Marbil warned police officers against allowing themselves to be used by political figures as he reminded them “that political neutrality is a core responsibility.”
“The PNP is tasked with protecting the democratic process, not participating in it. We will not tolerate any officer who compromises our commitment to neutrality and fairness. Any form of political interference, whether directly or indirectly, will be met with swift and decisive action,” he said.
