PNP taps foreign counterparts vs traffickers

The Philippine National Police is tapping its foreign counterparts to track down recruiters and financiers involved in alleged job scams and human trafficking abroad.

More than 200 Filipinos, who were rescued from illegal scam hubs in Myanmar, have sought repatriation from the government.

“We are working closely with our counterparts in Southeast Asia to identify recruiters and financiers involved in these criminal activities,” acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.

Nartatez added that the national police force was working with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Migrant Workers to crack down on groups luring Filipinos into illegal online operations in other countries.
