Police catch 110 cybercrime suspects last month

A total of 110 people linked to cybercrimes were arrested in September as part of police efforts to protect the public from online scams, hacking and exploitation, the Philippine National Police said on Wednesday.

Data from the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) showed that 77 of the suspects were caught in entrapment operations while 31 were wanted individuals and two were arrested by the Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Unit.

Authorities also filed 239 cases nationwide during the same period while the police also served 118 cyber warrants, mostly to access computer data to support investigations and strengthen case buildup.
