Public urged to go to President’s website for tips on infra problems

Got a tip about anomalies in the flood control projects in your community? Report it straight to President Marcos.
True to his promise during his fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona) on July 28, the President launched on Monday “Sumbong sa Pangulo,” an interactive website where the public can check all the flood control projects across the country. The website can be accessed at https://sumbongsapangulo.ph/.
It lists all the 9,855 flood control projects implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) from July 2022 to May 2025.
These include construction or repair works of cutoff channels, dikes, drainage structures, flood mitigation facilities or structures, retarding basins, revetments, slope protection structures, spur dikes, waterways or embankments.
Each flood control project indicates the location, name of its contractor, its cost and completion date.
Filipinos can look for the flood mitigation project in their locality through a search filter, or by using its interactive map.
The public can also report (even anonymously) if they think the project has issues—damaged structures, lack of equipment, or unfinished work. Photos and videos may be uploaded as proof.
Civic duty
The President stressed the importance of public feedback in his administration’s latest anticorruption campaign.
“We cannot do all of this without the help of the ordinary citizen. We need the citizens to play their part, their civic duty to report to the government what they see as being wrong,” Mr. Marcos said.
He admitted that personnel of national government agencies themselves could not physically check each of the almost 10,000 flood mitigation projects across the country.
“We need everyone involved because 80 million or 90 million pairs of eyes are better than all the eyes in the entire government,” he said.
Mr. Marcos said publicizing the list of the flood control projects under his term was just the first step of his latest crackdown against corrupt government officials and private individuals.
“We are going to keep going. This is something that is, I think, absolutely necessary. We have to clean our ranks,” he said.
Scrutiny
“This might be a little painful. Some people close to us might be involved in these anomalies. But even if they are close to us, the public is surely much closer to our hearts, so we will put them first,” the President added.
During his recent Sona, Mr. Marcos vowed to go after government officials and contractors involved in anomalous flood control projects that failed to work last month at the height of back-to-back cyclones and heavy monsoon downpour, leaving many communities in different parts of the country inundated.
Mr. Marcos also ordered the DPWH to immediately submit to his office a list of all flood control projects from every region in the country that have started or have been completed in the past three years.
This list will then be examined by Regional Project Monitoring Committees—composed of regional offices of selected national agencies, particularly the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development—and private partners to assess which flood control projects have been failures, unfinished, or those alleged to be “ghost” or nonexistent.
He vowed to make the list published for public scrutiny as he wanted Filipinos to help in the investigation of these projects.
People’s venue
“I hope the Filipino people will take advantage of this. And as I said, there is always a way for them to give their comments,” he said.
“They may write a complaint on what should have been done. Or better yet, they can say that this project has no problem—that will be one of the best news that we will read,” the President said.
He urged Filipinos to say their piece through the website and finally let out their complaints on the government’s failed flood control projects.
“Before, people were saying that they had nowhere to go, no one to approach to complain about government projects. Now there is. You now have someone to turn to,” the President said.
“This time, you’ll be coming directly to me, because I will be the one personally checking this every day on our website and reading the reports given by the public,” he added.
