Raps to be filed vs man who beat dog to death in Mountain Province
A case will be filed against a man who beat to death an American Bully named Axle in Sadanga, Mountain Province, local officials said, after footage of the Dec. 4 incident taken by a closed-circuit TV camera spread online.
The video showed a man with a large wooden stick hitting the dog several times as the animal tried to run away. Bystanders were also shown in the video turning a blind eye to the incident.

According to the Sadanga local government, the perpetrator is one of its drivers, and not a councilor as earlier reported. It confirmed in a statement that a case will be filed against him as it also expressed its “unequivocal condemnation of the senseless killing” of Axle.
Animal welfare advocates also condemned the killing. In an open letter posted on Wednesday, Animal Kingdom Foundation called on municipal and police officials to ensure that the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 is “fully upheld.”
“We must not forget that dogs like Axle are not mere property. They are living, sentient beings capable of feeling fear, joy and suffering,” it said.
Compassion and Responsibility for Animals Welfare Philippines also demanded justice for Axle and accountability from the perpetrator.
