P21-M smuggled cigarettes seized in Sarangani

KORONADAL CITY—The Sarangani provincial police seized some P21 million worth of smuggled cigarettes on board the fishing boat ML Blady Weeya in Tampat Point, Barangay Batulaki, Glan town, on Saturday. Police Brig. Gen. Percival Augustus Placer, police director in Soccsksargen, said 16 individuals, most of whom were Filipinos with some suspected to be Indonesians, were arrested during the joint operation by the police, Navy, Bureau of Customs and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. The 1,075 cases of R & B cigarette brand were being transported from Tongkil, Banguingui, Sulu, to Digos, Davao del Sur, Placer said. —EDWIN FERNANDEZ
