Ruiz still PCO chief, says Palace official

Veteran broadcast journalist Jay Ruiz will remain acting secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), at least for now.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Palace press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said she has not been informed whether Ruiz would be replaced as PCO chief.

“To my knowledge, there is no new secretary yet. Jay Ruiz remains the acting secretary. And if ever there is someone new—if there really is, as some rumors suggest—I still have nothing to confirm,” said Castro, who was appointed with Ruiz in February.

By “rumors,” she was apparently referring to reports that former journalist-turned-corporate communications executive Dave Gomez had accepted the offer to take over Ruiz’s post.
