Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday said she was happy that the International Criminal Court (ICC) judges saw the physical state of her father Rodrigo Duterte during a recent procedural hearing on the charges of crimes against humanity against him. The former president personally appeared for the very first time during the ICC Trial Chamber III’s third status conference last Wednesday.
“I am glad that a status conference was held and the judges finally saw the state of PRD. You can see that he is of advanced age, and hopefully, they can discuss the state of his health,” the Vice President said in a chance interview. Prior to Wednesday’s conference, the only time the elder Duterte appeared before the court was on March 14, 2025, during the pretrial proceedings via video conference. He is facing three counts of crimes against humanity for murder over his administration’s bloody war on drugs.
