Seven bets bid for Antipolo House seat
A total of seven applicants have filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) for the second congressional district of Antipolo City, including two incumbent councilors.
The period of COC filing ran from Feb. 5 to Feb. 7 for the special elections to be held on March 14, following the passing of Rep. Romeo Acop in December 2025.
The Commission on Elections said the candidates for the vacated seat are Dandin Yanos Infante, Reden Noble Llaga, Lorenzo Juan Yu Sumulong III, Maria Trinidad Galang Cafirma, Philip Conrad Marrero Acop, Nathaniel Adao Lobigas and Irvin Paulo Carillo Tapales.
During the May 2025 midterm elections, Sumulong garnered the highest number of votes for the councilor position with 98,048 votes, while Tapales ranked eighth in the race with 85,271 votes.
The campaign period will be from Feb. 12 until March 12.
