Sexual trafficking suspect nabbed; 6 victims saved

The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a suspect for sexual trafficking and rescued six victims, including three minors, during an entrapment operation in Batangas City last week.
The NBI said in a statement on Wednesday that it received information that the suspect, identified only as “Azis,” was offering males and females, including minors, for sexual exploitation in exchange for fees ranging from P2,000 to P8,000 in Lipa City.
An entrapment and rescue operation was hatched by the NBI on Feb. 18 in coordination with the Department of Justice-Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking and the city social welfare office of Batangas City.
Agents posing as customers set up a meeting with the suspect in Batangas City, who was arrested after he arrived with the six victims.
The suspect has undergone inquest proceedings for violating the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022 before the Batangas City prosecutor.
