Subsidized rice is now available in 15 “Kadiwa” outlets in Batangas.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) said it partnered with Sorosoro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC) to launch the program in the province.
The public can purchase P20 per kilogram of rice at select Kadiwa sa SIDC outlets, prioritizing vulnerable groups such as Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries, solo parents, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
The Kadiwa outlets are in: SIDC Main Office in Sorosoro Ibaba, Purok 2 in Mahabang Parang, Tinga Labac, Barangay Petron along the National Road in Balagtas, Lipa City Proper, Barangay Balagtas, National Highway in Barangay Alangilan, Sitio Central in Barangay Sto. Niño, San Miguel, Conde Labac, Mahacot West, Barangay Libjo, Pallocan West, San Mariano in San Pascual and Manghinao Proper in Bauan.
As of July 10, the Kadiwa network has 721 active sites nationwide.
Beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s “Walang Gutom” (No Hunger) Program and minimum wage earners are now included in the program.
