Taiwanese caught with ‘shabu’ gets life sentence
A Taiwanese man has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined P2 million in connection with the discovery of 71 kilograms of “shabu” (crystal meth) in a Las Piñas City warehouse, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Tuesday.
In a statement, PDEA said the Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court Branch 255 on June 16 found Chen Te Ho Chang, also known as Te Ho Chen and alias “Tanda,” guilty of violating Section 11 of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Chen was arrested at a hotel in Parañaque City on June 3, 2017, for allegedly smuggling P250 million worth of drugs.
A follow-up operation led to the discovery of the Las Piñas warehouse in BF Martinville Subdivision, Manuyo, and the drugs 10 days later.
