Tip from Aussie police leads to rescue of sexual abuse victims

Acting on a tip from Australian authorities, police officers in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte, arrested a woman involved in the online sexual exploitation of two children, the National Coordination Center (NCC) against Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (Osaec) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (Csaem) reported on Tuesday.

The operation conducted on July 15 by the Philippine National Police’s Women and Children Protection Center also led to the rescue of the girl, who is a minor, and a boy considered to be a child at risk from abuse.

Both were placed in the care of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office in Sindangan, which will provide them with psychosocial support and medical assistance as part of their healing and reintegration process.

The NCC said the case was based on information referred by the Australian Federal Police through the Philippine Internet Crimes Against Children Center.
