UP physics grad is new PH Space Agency head

Palace press officer Claire Castro on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Gay Jane Perez as officer in charge of the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA).

Perez replaced Joel Joseph Marciano Jr., who resigned in September.

The new PhilSA chief has served as deputy director general for the agency’s Space Science and Technology department since 2021.

Perez earned her physics degree from the University of the Philippines (UP) and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Nasa Goddard Space Flight Center from 2010 to 2011.
