‘Viva Voce’ brings vocal mastery back to Baguio
BAGUIO CITY—Aspiring and experienced singers in this city and nearby areas will have a chance to refine their craft as “Viva Voce,” one of the country’s premier vocal ensembles, returns here for a vocal workshop and recital this June.
The four-day program, scheduled from June 20 to June 23, marks a meaningful homecoming for the group, whose Viva Voce Voice Workshops began in Baguio years ago.
Organizers described the return as a celebration of music, learning, friendship and artistic community.
Workshop sessions will run from June 20 to June 22 at the Aller School of Music in Barangay Sto. Tomas, while a culminating recital will be held on June 23 at the University of the Cordilleras Theater on Gov. Pack Road.
Open to participants of all ages, voice types and skill levels, the workshop aims to help singers develop healthy vocal techniques, strengthen musicality and performance skills and build confidence on stage.
Master teachers
Leading the sessions are internationally trained performers and vocal educators Camille and Pablo Molina. The husband-and-wife team has built a reputation in opera, classical music, musical theater, choral performance and vocal pedagogy.
Participants are required to prepare two songs: one Filipino piece—from genres such as kundiman, Original Pilipino Music or musical theater—and another song of their choice. They must also bring either a minus-one accompaniment track or a copy of the piano-vocal score for their selected pieces.
Organizers are offering an early-bird enrollment fee of P2,000 until June 12. Registration will cost P2,500 thereafter.
