‘Vulnerable’ people shouldn’t go to airport–Miaa

With the continuing high heat indexes, the management of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Authority (Naia) on Friday urged departing and arriving passengers not to bring “vulnerable” individuals to the facility for farewells and greetings.

The Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa), in an advisory, referred to a recent incident where an elderly woman who came to Naia to welcome her relatives felt dizzy and had to undergo emergency medical care.

Miaa general manager Eric Ines said in a statement that he has instructed all operational departments to intensify efforts in assisting and overseeing passengers who may experience medical emergencies due to the heat.

These measures, he said, were integral to Miaa’s comprehensive strategy to ensure a secure and comfortable environment for all visitors at Naia during heat index spikes and other extreme weather conditions. —JEROME ANING
