Today, choosing sustainability is no longer a choice but the only way forward. Globe has embraced this reality with deliberate action, transforming its operations, network, and workplace to drive positive impact over the last 15 years.

As the recipient of multiple recognitions for its sustainability efforts, Globe proves that environmental and societal responsibility, along with strong corporate governance, can go hand in hand with creating great business results.

That’s because we view sustainability as a responsibility that goes beyond compliance. It is about driving real change, together with other stakeholders who share the same values. Every step we take is aimed at creating a lasting, beneficial difference for our customers, communities, and the country.

An eco-friendly network serving customers’ needs

Globe’s commitment to sustainability is most visible in its bold strides toward net-zero emissions by 2050, becoming the first publicly listed Philippine firm to receive Science Based Targets initiative validation for greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

Today, 33 key Globe facilities are powered by renewable energy sources through partnerships including ACEN while more than 53 sites nationwide operate with hybrid solar power solutions, reducing dependence on traditional electricity sources. Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered energy management solutions further optimize power use across operations, delivering tangible reductions in energy consumption.

Globe recently participated in the GSMA Intelligence’s Green Network Index, a benchmarking study that assesses energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, network performance, power availability, and information and communications technology enablement, providing a framework to enhance its green network strategy.

Empowering communities via digital and social inclusion

In a push for increased digital inclusion, Globe brought connectivity to over 500 geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas. Globe also broke ground on its pioneering off-grid, solar-powered cell site in the remote area of Taganak Island in Tawi-Tawi to bring connectivity to around 10,000 residents and visitors.

Promoting digital literacy and safety, Globe’s Senior Digizen program has equipped over 600 elderly with mobile literacy skills in 2024. Meanwhile, the company continuously trains students across the country in digital safety, cybersecurity, and responsible AI use through its award-winning Digital Thumbprint Program. Very soon, in collaboration with the Department of Education, Globe will help scale up the use of online learning and artificial intelligence in Philippine classrooms.

Championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace

While some companies globally are doing reversals in DEI practices, Globe continues to forge ahead in cultivating an inclusive workplace where every employee has equitable opportunities to thrive and grow. This entails increasing awareness of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of employees and adopting a holistic approach to employee welfare and development. To further advance its DEI agenda, Globe has forged strategic partnerships with organizations, such as Project Inclusion Network and Philippine Businesses and Disability Network, amplifying its impact.

Setting the benchmark for responsible business

Globe continues to raise the bar for Philippine companies, retaining its AA ESG Rating from MSCI and securing its spot in the FTSE4Good Index Series for nine straight years.

Meanwhile, Globe’s corporate ethics has been recognized with the prestigious Five Golden Arrow Award from the Institute of Corporate Directors for three consecutive years, reflecting its adherence to the highest standards of corporate governance and its ability to create long-term value for stakeholders. Moreover, Globe’s approach to employee welfare has received multiple accolades such as HR Asia’s Best Companies to Work for in Asia (Philippines) and Employer of the Year at the HR Excellence Awards 2024.

Beyond its operations, Globe drives sustainability across its supply chain by promoting green practices, upholding human and labor rights, and ensuring good governance. To accelerate progress in the Philippines, Globe collaborates with organizations such as the Makati Business Club and givvable (an Australia-based global AI-powered supplier sustainability platform) to upskill its supply chain.
