Talk of the Town: Vigilance is better than cure

Anyone who will experience air travel will most likely get infected with the latest virus or bacterium as airplanes are the biggest source of the spread. They will then pass it on to their family and friends, as these germs have an incubation period of several days. I should know since I experienced the latest disease, and still in the process of recovering. Masks do not help if the duration is over an hour. They may help in situations like the supermarket or malls, but not airplanes. The airlines should require a 72-hour prior medical clearance from certified health institutions. Otherwise, the virus and bacteria will win. Believe me, you don’t want to get this, especially if you’re [immunocompromised], or have heart/ lung issues.

It is a puzzle why a system has not yet been agreed upon by high officials that will be activated in case of another pandemic. We can learn from the systems of Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. Without this, we will again be caught unprepared with disastrous consequences.
