Talk of the Town: Duties of lawyers

Comment on “Duties of lawyers,” (With Due Respect by Artemio V. Panganiban, 12/4/23) via www.inquirer.net:

If a client, who is truly guilty of performing a criminal act, approaches a lawyer for advice, the lawyer can offer only [one] option to the client, which is to plead guilty and ask the Court to lower his penalty. If the client insists that the lawyer should defend him and prove his innocence, then the lawyer has no choice but to tell the client to go to another lawyer for legal assistance.
