I was in high school and college when I practically witnessed the brilliance and, most especially, the martyrdom of Ninoy. I still feel cold recalling the time when he had practically took the bullet when he returned to the country, knowing fully well he would be assassinated. Worse, he made the statement before some reporters in the plane just before he disembarked in that fateful tarmac, “Watch out, this might be quick,” referring to his own murder. What a man, that’s no less than a hero to me. Indeed he lived that line he famously said during his incarceration, “The Filipino is worth dying for” and died he did for us. Now, who between Duterte or BBM could do that for the country??
