Talk of the Town: Circular history
Comments on “Circular history,” (Looking Back by Ambeth R. Ocampo, 4/22/26) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:
Paco district must be named after the Franciscan order … as “Paco” is short for Francisco … could’ve been Chito or Kiko district. The Paco Cemetery is consistent with present day memorials’ zoning (manila, heritage) for mausoleums or family estates distinct from the area dedicated for single lots only.

I agree with the point of the article, but it’s also frustrating to realize how we keep falling into the same patterns. It’s not enough to remember history—we need real accountability and the political will to change. Without that, the cycle is bound to repeat itself again and again.
