Talk of the Town: Cum laude grads vs ‘padrino’ system
Comments on “Cum laude grads vs ‘padrino’ system,” (Editorial, 4/30/24) via www.inquirer.net:
One thing I’ve heard and seen is the easy substitution by any of the qualified children (any college degree holder,) of a regular government employee who had retired or died. Oftentimes there’s a mismatch as to the nature and scope of work versus the educational background of the replacement but nevertheless, they retain the item previously held by the parents. If this practice is legal then other qualified jobseekers but without such privilege are already deprived of the chance to acquire the vacated item.

They won’t because of 1. Politics. Still strong is favoritism in the workplace. With that, comes 2. Discrimination/bias or bullying 3. Traffic problem.

The next problem is the insidious padrino system in the giving of grades and awarding of academic honors already happening in many schools and colleges finally rearing its head because of this new silly incentive from the CSC.
