Best to remember we cannot control the amount of rainfall. One cannot simply conclude flooding has worsened by the level of water. Improvement is best determined by how fast the water level subsides relative to the volume of water.

No need to go farther. All those who waddle and wallow in our yearly floodwaters all over the country and get sick with leptospirosis in the process actually voted for all our local and national politicians, who are failures in solving the flood problem—up to now. Same political leaders again for next year’s floods—and for the next 10 years.

And the rate of ground absorption of rain downpour is decreasing due to housing development and “concretization” of once agricultural land due to urbanization. That, too, contributed to surface flooding.
