Talk of the Town: Hope and science high schools

Comments on “Hope and science high schools,” (Gray Matters by Michael Lim Tan, 6/24/25) via https://opinion.inquirer.net:

Of course, a Pisay Pinoy graduating from a US ivy league school is most welcome but it is not an “indicator of rising standards” as claimed by Prof Tan. The educational crisis or learning poverty still lingers, a UNICEF official reminding us recently. Dr. Tan must know that a small percentage of a given population (5%-10%?) has higher than average IQ (even if IQ is not an accurate measure of intelligence).

The country had given pisay students the best possible science education there is but those effort have come to naught as we should be self-reliant by now technologically and economically. The country been so engrossed with partisan politics, easy money, too much entertainment, and other distraction that we forget to ensure our survival as a nation.
