The country has been promoting pro-competition for decades as seen in term limits and privatization. But it’s also been promoting more regulation with it, as seen in outdated protectionism (due to fear of foreign control) and lots of checks and balances (due to high levels of distrust).

We must always remember that the 115 million Filipinos cover a very wide spectrum of interests, beliefs (especially about ourselves), and ideas for what to do. And there are significant segments in this spectrum who fiercely believe that their way is the way.
